# 208 Baps

This very minute I have 2 trays of baps baking in the oven. The ones on the top tray have a lovely golden colour already, just a few more minutes and they're done and the smell is just mouth watering, I wish you could smell it too.

We're having homemade burgers for dinner tonight and I'm making an extra one for A. to take to school tomorrow in a homemade bap, you can't ask for better than that I think.

The dough for the baps was kneaded in the bread machine and the recipe is below if you'd like to try making them yourself.



Baps

1 teaspoon fast action yeast
450g strong white flour
25g butter
Pinch of salt
1 egg
250ml water (for a slightly denser bap you can try 125ml water and 125ml milk)

Place the ingredients in the bread pan in the order specified in the manual for your bread machine.

Select the basic dough cycle (2h 20min in mine).

When the cycle finishes grease your hands with a little olive oil, cut portions of dough and roll into balls, then flatten slightly with a floured rolling pin and place on a baking tray lined with baking parchment.

Prove in a warm place for about 30 minutes and then bake in a pre-heated oven until golden brown.
